The Sculpted Ivory Wedding Gown features a fitted, corseted bodice with a square neckline, shoulder straps and a pointed basque waist. Made in ivory satin, the design has a full, box-pleated skirt that extends into a train. A low back and concealed zip complete the gown, with no lace, trim or embellishment.

Design and construction

The corset seams shape the bodice through the bust and waist, while the basque waist creates a pointed transition into the full skirt. Box pleats provide volume without excessive gathering at the waist. The satin's smooth surface keeps the construction details visible, making accurate cutting, fitting and pressing particularly important.

Notes for your dressmaker

Use a bridal satin with sufficient body to support the pleated skirt. The corseted bodice will require appropriate internal support, particularly around the low back. Confirm the depth of the back opening and the placement of the concealed zip during fitting. Check the basque waist for a smooth fit and arrange the box pleats evenly around the skirt. Allow sufficient length for the train and discuss a bustle or other method of lifting it after the ceremony.
